Happy New Year, 2010

Just a quick greeting from my heart to yours to welcome in the New Year. Thanks to Pamela at In His Graces for, once again, prompting my listening to God in regards to an anchor verse for 2010.

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

Would love to hear how God is directing your thoughts for the upcoming year. As always…
peace for the journey,

  1. Happy New Year, Sweetie!!! Enjoyed our talk!

Good words here today. Never thought about a focus verse for the new year before.

  2. It's been several days ago now that Psalm 30 became my rallying cry for 2010. No more sackcloth (I have several pieces in various colors), but only garments of joy. Peace is to be the by-product of singing, but great boldness and courage shall be necessary to get the tune right.

"You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever." v11-12

May this be a year like no other as we soar as on wings of eagles!

    Hugs,
    Kathleen

  3. You're right, that verse does cover it all.
Last week the Lord give me Jeremiah 7:23 and Jeremiah 15:16 for my anchor verse, I mean…verses. I have this hungry to hear, know and converse with God on a more intimate level.

    Love your video!
    Happy New Year,
    Tammy

  4. "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13 NIV God spoke this to my heart just this morning, and I know that this will be my "anchor" verse.

    Lovingly,
    Yolanda

  5. It's funny because the first two passages that the Lord brought me to this morning were these:

    Matthew 11:28-30
    "Come unto Me,
all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

    and then this one:
    ACTS 1:8 KJV
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

I usually wait for God to "surprise me" and that He did….. I will ponder these two passages – together for this day and for the coming year ahead.

So far it seems like these are saying that I must come to HIM – first – foremost – and to Him alone — the He will give me the power to sustain me and to share JESUS with others I meet along the path of life – even in places I've never been to before!

How exciting is that?……. a new year of New Beginnings – New Seasons – New Lives Transformed!

I can't wait to see what God has in store for you too, dear friend! You have been the biggest blessing in blogland this past year!

    JESUS ONLY in 2010!
    Choosing JOY, Stephanie

  6. My word is hope for the new year. I come into the year with a new hope that only comes from God. He has certainly shown me that He is not ordinary at all. How cool is that.

Blessings and prayers for you in the new year.

    Tammy

  7. Happy, happy New Year! Hmm, funny, This was among key verses I read in my morning Bible study that "popped". Not my anchor, but, always a reminder.

My anchor themes? Still hanging on to precious truths that have been my anchor from July – now, Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart – Psalms 34:7, THEN the story of Peter walking on the water – which was a HUGE impact and eye opener for me. And Psalms 100, these are new life truths that will prevail all year, and the rest of my days I imagine. But for this coming year, Job 22:26-30, is my marching orders. Been seeking the Lord for anchor verses around my birthday and New Year for a good number of years now. Such a blessing!

    God bless!
    Maria

  8. Elaine, I think this is what I will choose this year!! Happy New Year!!

"Forget what happened before, and do not think about the past. Look at the new thing I am going to do. It is already happening. Don't you see it? I will make a road in the desert and rivers in the dry land." Isaiah 43:18-19

  9. Love your video!

I haven't thought about having an anchor verse for the year.

    But I like this idea.

Would love to get back to you about it.

    Sweet dreams.

  10. Elaine, I so much enjoyed your video blog today! I feel as if I have just been in your living room visiting with you! A great start to my year!

I actually don't have a verse for the year. Maybe in a few days the Lord will give me direction for that.

    Happy New Year!

  11. I've had an anchor verse for at least the past 10 years and I have them each recorded in my journal. Your anchor verse for 2010 is not that far from the one the Lord has impressed on me: "Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable." Romans 12:17 NLT

May our lives honour Him every day, every moment of 2010.

    Happy New Year,
    Love, prayers and hugs,
    Joy

  12. Happy New Year, friend. My anchor verse for this year, this day, this life is as it has been: to live is Christ. May He be my Treasure, my Crown, my Glory, my All.

  13. I really need to focus on spending more time in scripture and getting to know my Lord better through His word. My anchor verses are Joshua 1:9,10 'Do not let this book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have not I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.'

  14. This was beautiful! Thank you Elaine, for this challenge. I am searching for a scripture right now to put on my photo website–which is not ready. I think I have found it, but I would love some more input! I want a scripture that speaks of the joy I feel when I capture a "God moment" through the lense. A photo that takes away my breath. Let me know what your thoughts are, sweetie!

I will begin searching for my verse for 2010. 🙂
    Love you!

  15. Great post Elaine. Thank you for allowing God to use you for our benefit. I love your transparency. I've made a couple blog posts about my life scripture for 2010 and a word list! I'm praying for God to use me in a way to be encouraging for those hurting and needing a word to lift them. Happy New Year!

  16. Love this! Great verse!

You have inspired me to look for my own verse for 2010. thanks!

    Happy New Year!

  17. I so enjoyed this vlog…what a blessing!

Deuteronomy 32:12 was impressed on me this week…"The Lord alone led him"…I think this is a call to keep totally focused on Him and not on circumstances I see, things I hear, or negative feelings I may experience…to follow him totally and completely….

  18. I decided my verse for 2010 would be

    Love the Lord your God
    with all your heart and
    with all your soul and
    with all your mind and
    with all your strength.

    Mark 12:30

I recently finished reading Mark Batterson's book Primal. It was the focal verse for the book. I decided to make it my 24th and final memory verse for 2009… and I think it is a good setup for me for 2010.

    Thanks for asking!

  19. I am blessed to be here tonight & see this video Elaine. I love when the Lord does this – I was JUST having a conversation about this exact verse with my husband. It's a perfect time to go back to that reality & absorb this amazing grace truth – that we were bought for a price. That He was wounded for our trangressions & with His blood He purchased men for God. There is Truth in what you speak here friend. And you are right – this is a challenge, a higher calling of amazing grace. We all need to meditate on this verse & the truth that He resides within us. Happy new year friend & blessings to you! Thank you for boldly testifying & being a blessing to others!!

  20. You're ALWAYS a great blessing to my heart Elaine. True blue Jesus lover.

Happy New Year and enjoy the LORD and your family. May it be a YEAR OF BOUNTY in the LORD for all of you.

    Love and blessings!

  21. Those that seek HIM will find HIM.. that is a promise. Happy New Year my friend… Seeking HIM in 2010….

  22. Romans 12: 1-2 has been my anchor verse for a couple of years now. I'm not sure I sense the Lord giving me a new one just yet. I'm learning all about living sacrifices in these seasons. So until he gives me something new, I'm sticking with that.

Would love to have you and your readers join us at The Point for Challenge 2010 – Scripture Memory Challenge.

    Take care,

    Leah

  23. I love the thought of an anchor verse. I keep coming back to Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future"

I often find myself afraid to step out and walk in the Spirit. This year I am going to do it, I am going to stop being afraid. God has plans for me, He has laid them on my heart, and it is time I stopped being afraid and started walking in faith.

I'm excited for this year and all the things to come!!

    Happy New Year!

  24. Elaine, you are such a blessing! I love how you shared from your heart on this video.

I am doing a priority and goals 2010 with eLisa of Extravagant Grace. She is hosting this on her blog from January 1-7 so people can do a post during that time and link up. I haven't written mine yet but I did pray about my 2010 theme and verse.

I want to be more consistent in reading your blog this year. You have so much wisdom and you speak from your heart and I love that.

    Happy New Year,
    Debbie

  25. While helping my husband with research for his New Year's sermon, I came across Haggai 1 (vs.5&7 "consider your ways" or "give careful thought to your ways") where the emphasis is rebuilding the temple. Vs. 8 – "…that (God) may take pleasure in it and…be glorified"!!!!

Verses 9-11 tell what happens when the "temple" is neglected….vs. 13 is the Lord's further assurance, "I am with you"…

So much in this chapter inspired me and is reinforced by your Anchor Verse. Individually we are His temples. Collectively His Church.

Can't wait to grow into complete surrender to this truth!

  26. I enjoyed your video and your verse. I can't say I have a specific verse as of now for 2010.
Oh, going to ck out your friend help you with the WIP.

  27. Elaine,

Hmmm, how is the Lord directing my thoughts and my path this year? Well, for one, He has placed me back in ministry. This time shoulder to shoulder with my blessing of a husband. My heart is to surrender more this year. To give up my wants for his needs to make me more into what He wants me to be.

My heart has been bathed in a new fresh experience of Jesus. I must be held back for all I want to DO – sit with an elderly shut-in, woman's Bible study, jail ministry, writing (of course), and there is still the ministry of being a wife and mom. (Can't over look that one)

Praying as we come one year closer to His return, we take advantage of every minute.

Maybe you could help me take advantage of the 'regular exercise' ministry I should be a part of!

    Love you friend!!!
