Imagine

Imagine

For those of you who need to know that your God sees you this day…

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun, which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is hidden from its heat.” (Psalm 19:1-6).

Can you even imagine? Better still, do you?

Ever imagine?

Him.

Pitching his tent in the heavens and watching over your every move. Not because he is waiting for you to make a mess out of your life, but simply because he is waiting for you to take notice of his.

His constant presence. His everlasting love. His faithful glances in your direction.

He is there, but most days, our preoccupation with the flesh leaves little room for the imagining of him. Horizontal focus trumps the beauty of vertical visioning because horizontal focus usually voices the loudest. That which cannot be heard is almost always overlooked. Overshadowed and nearly forgotten. Almost.

Not today. Not for me. For today the heavens voiced a melody that trumped any earthly sound. They scripted their chorus in the sky above, and only those with the eyes to look up and the hearts to look deep had the privilege of singing along. God gave me a gift this morning through my imagination. Maybe you, too, will be able to hear the song.

Imagine a beautiful Sunday morning. A day set apart for the worship of the Creator of your heart. Imagine going to church, parking your car and grabbing hold of the hands of two young children. Imagine, then, looking up and seeing the sky painted with the brushstrokes from a Heavenly Father’s morning walk.

Imagine commenting on their beauty to your children and then finding your camera to take a few pictures to benchmark the moment.

Imagine going into the church, finding your pew, only to be distracted by the beauty of a sky’s sacred witness. Imagine retrieving your camera from your purse and perusing your earlier remembrances while the choir sings their anthem.

Imagine, then, being disturbed by a seemingly odd coloring on a few of the pictures.

Imagine, then, zooming the camera’s focus in to take a closer look.

Imagine then, the possibility of what you think you see.

Imagine.

Call me crazy. Call me emotional. Call me way over the top. Call me hysterical for Jesus. That’s OK. I know Who I imagined this morning, and I am perfectly fine with your labels. Better still, I am perfectly fine with believing in the One whose eyes are always on me and who is coming soon to take me home as his bride.

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him” (2 Chronicles 16:9).

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.’” (Revelation 21:1-3).

It won’t be long, friends, until we truly see him in all his glory. For now, we can only imagine him, watching over us and waiting for the divine “go” from his Father. In that moment, his voice will split the sky, and he will shatter earth’s darkness with the glorious illumination of our forever. Can you even imagine?

It’s a holy imagining worthy of our thoughts this day—a Sabbath day when our focus should level toward the vertical and our faith should level toward the seen possibility of a wild and sacred imagining. He’s been my portion this day. How I earnestly desire the same for you.

Look up, for your salvation is closer now than it has ever been! (Romans 13:11-12). As always,

~elaine

I came across this song last night for the very first time. You’ve probably heard it before, but would you take the time this day to listen again and to imagine your Father’s watchful and loving gaze over you right now? This song brought me to my tears and to my knees. I pray it will do the same for you.

  1. Elaine,
THANK YOU!! How can I not go my knees after seeing and hearing that? Wow. Yes, I want to imagine too with the truth that was just so wonderfully sung. Thank you for blessing me today.
    Love, Sita

  2. I have that song on CD (an older CD of variety artists). I love that song. I love how it goes through the books of the Bible and lists all that God is by description.

Beautiful pictures you captured this morning.

    Thanks, Elaine.
    Blessings,
    Paula

  3. Wow! It is an awesome feeling to be totally captivated by Christ. I had a “raptured” moment today at church. But, unfortunately, it didn’t last long. But, that’s OK, I had a moment, and it lingers it my heart and beckons me to come back.

  4. Blessings Elaine…you are such an inspiration! This is a MIRACLE!

Now you think I mean the photos…your imagination
…hardly, though I love cloud formations and how God’s Light shines…I’m sorry I can’t see what you see but I LOVE the brushstrokes of GOD…and your scriptural writing…

The MIRACLE for me is this song!

I sought for two weeks now to find this and had no idea how I ever would find it…and here you are,
placing it in my hands…GOD BLESS YOU! And thank YOU LORD, for having Elaine like something other than Point of Grace(lol)(just loving this CD from Tracy)!!!

This has given me such AWE in reading with anticipation the
Revelation of Our Lord..that I too must stop and bow to my knees for our Redemption and Rapture draws nigh and I’m so ready to see what you saw in those clouds but I hear it in this song!!! Thank you for so richly blessing my weeks of searching!!! Love and BIG Hug…

  5. Elaine,
What a beautiful, truthful, and very timely post!

” ‘Behold, I am coming soon! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book … the time is near … let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy. Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with Me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. … Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.”
    (Revelation 22:7-22)

    Sunday blessings,
    Kathryn

  6. Elaine, I am all goosebumps. From your first picture on your blog to the amazing Amen of this song – my friend, you are witness to a miracle today…that right now…I can only imagine.

Thank you for sharing this encounter with us. I keep thinking of that verse, “Lord, make Your face shine upon us and be gracious unto us”. His face was shining upon you today.

    Love ya,
    Joy

  7. Faith Elaine. I am amazed. I feel like we are we are more than sisters in Christ! We are sisters of the heart! You knew I would love this…
    Imagine.
    Oh, how I do.
    I’m waiting for my bridegroom…

  8. He IS…and so much more. He is our double portion. “Those who hopefully wait for Me will not be put to shame.” Is. 49:23

  9. Oh my. We serve an awesome God. I just had e-mailed a dear friend about something that happened in her life that showed her our Father loves us enough to give us joy in the small things of our lives. Then I opened up this to see Him watching over every part of our lives. I can hardly wait to see His face. blessings, marlene

  10. Hey Elaine,

It’s been a long time since I have responded but this couldn’t pass me by. I saw him immediately in your picture, even before you zoomed. All I could say is oh, my goodness! How awesome! I am suprised you could contain yourself at church. His presence was felt in Sunday School, too. Thanks for being there. Angie

  11. Elaine, thanks for posting Aaron Jeffrey’s He Is. Bill Maher was just on Larry King Live making fun of Christians for believing in God. Making fun of God for not defeating the devil… My heart was hurt when I thought of all those listening to his lies… but being reminded that God is the Great I AM… brought me back to the reality that men will be deceived and deceive others… but God has a greater plan… HE IS!

  12. Thank you for sharing this miraculous moment with us! What a sight you were privileged to see! I have chills from head to toe. Makes me long for that day!

Wow, and then to follow it with that powerful, beautiful song…incredible.

  13. Elaine,
This song has meant much to me for many years! When Jessy was a young teen, our youth did a drama to “He Is”. They wore all black with white gloves===in the dark with lights illuminating their hands as they “formed” out the song. It brought me to tears then and now. I have been seen praising God in the car to this song! Thank you

  14. Wow! What an amazing experience! This post makes me want to just run outside and spend sometime looking at the sky imagining!…That song is…no words…I had not heard that song until today! POWERFUL!

  15. Elaine:

I believe, this is one of the songs that God used to woo my husband after I gave my heart to Him. It’s a powerful song….one I listen to often. Thank you for the video that goes with it!

Also, just this past week I found myself contemplating this scripture:

Revelation 21:9 NIV One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”

Going from the bride to the wife.

    Love to you,
    Yolanda

  16. OH MY GOODNESS! That was POWERFUL!
Elaine—that is like CHURCH while sitting here at my desk! (Yes, I was checking a few e-mails…and saw yours…and HAD to see!)
I am GLAD I did! It goes right along with the devotion Aimee and I shared on the way to work this morning~the AWESOMENESS of GOD!

  17. I really really loved what you wrote here: Imagine, then, looking up and seeing the sky painted with the brushstrokes from a Heavenly Father’s morning walk.

    What a heart touching visual!!!

You are always a blessing Elaine!

  18. My breath was taken away! I saw Him, even before the zoom in. How He spoke to you! How He revealed His “awesomeness”! He is ALWAYS there for us! Praise to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

  19. Beautiful, Elaine! So glad you shared! And imagine, all this happened on my special day, my birthday!

  20. This is absolutely beautiful! I’m left speechless and in awe. I’m so in love with Jesus! Thanks.

  21. Thanks for the love!

I've sent your post far and wide. Just like the song. Oh, no, that was Deep & Wide….

    🙂
    Hugs.

  22. Thanks again for sharing “Imagine” and showing us things we perhaps overlook. Not that we would miss the beauty of the sky but the thoughts you give that add such dimension such as, “Pitching his tent in the heavens and watching over your every move.”. . “His constant presence. His everlasting love. His faithful glances in your direction.”

This is something that I need to be reminded of. . Jesus loves ME!
He watches over ME! How amazing and
    how wonderful!

    Beautiful pictures!

Elaine, as always, I appreciate your comments on my blog so very much. I would like to say that if I left the impression that Darlene was “out of the fold” all those years she was not. After the stormy teen years, she returned to God, and even some of the wrong choices that she made worked later to her advantage in understanding and helping other young people who made unwise choices. She implemented a Young Mothers Program, Clinic and Daycare at a charter high school where she worked as an RN
But still, there were unresolved hurts that I did not realize was still there until years later.

I didn’t mean to write a book, but I felt I needed to claify this.

  23. Elaine,

Those pictures are awesome. They were beautiful before I saw Him… but I have goosebumps now. What an awesome time you had with the Lord. Is He just sweet or what???

I hate that I couldn’t hear or see the song on my computer at work, but from other’s comments I think that I know exactly which song it is.

Thanks so much for sharing these photos and words with us. I do not think you are crazy… or maybe… if you are… I am too. At least I know that I am in good company.
    Lynn

  24. Without being fringy, I must confess that I am a prophecy student of many years. When I look at the convergence of events on the global horizons, my “imagining” is vivid. With each cloud, each crack of thunder, each storm, each …. Well, let’s just say the thought of His return is so very, very compelling.

Besides that, as I get older, my imagining takes far less effort. I am often heard to say: I’m closer to the grave (and His presence), than the cradle.

    The thought actually summons joy.

    Kathleen

  25. WOW!!! I don’t think I’ve ever heard this song. AMAZING! Makes me want to sit down and read my whole Bible without stopping – just to remember and see who HE IS – again and again!!!!!!!

Love how He is revealing Himself to you and to us through you. I see His brush strokes not only in the photos of the sky but also across your heart!

    Hugs,
    Renee

  26. Thank you for posting pictures that show the nearness of our God and King. And girl every time I hear that song I want to get up and Shout!
This post was a fresh drink of water!

  27. Hey Elaine,

Oh, I’m so behind on your posts. I don’t like to rush through anything you write.

    I’ve just read two.

Thanks for faithfully stopping by and always leaving your mark, a word spoken that blesses and encourages me each time.

Now, this song. I heard this many years ago, and was honored to hear this guy sing it live in concert.

The entire audience was on their feet by the end with their arms stretched out towards heaven!!

What an incredible song. I can never hear it without getting so EXCITED about what awaits us all.

Isn’t it neat, we know the end of our stories?

Anyhow, thanks for posting it. The pictures were awesome too♥

  28. Wow! I realize I am commenting on an old post but I can’t help it. I’ve heard this song before and it never ceases to usher me into the presence of the Lord. HE IS! Amen!

Thanks for you assistance in ushering me into the presence of the Lord. I wish I could stay here in worship all day (like singing worship songs to my Father)!

    Love,
    Nicole
