God and Prizes

God and Prizes

“After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: ‘Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, and your very great reward.’” (Genesis 15:1).

Someone asked me the other day if I thought that people were logging in to the blog and commenting just to receive a prize.

Perhaps.

Does that bother me?

Not at all. Because here’s the deal…

I believe that God and prizes go together. At the end of the day, no matter your reason for stopping in, whether for a prize or for a word,

You still get Jesus! For he is the great and ultimate Reward of our precious lives.

I’ve lived a long time for the rewards of this world. I’ve tasted some, and I’ve gone without. But no matter my appetite, there is only One who truly fills. He is why I get up every morning. He is why I walk it through…this crazy life of mine…every day. He is where I’m headed. He is the pulse behind this blog.

For the rest of my days, Christ alone is worthy of my boast. It is my deepest hope and prayer that you will always find him here…no matter the reason for your visit.

May God be close to each one of you in your hearts this day. May you sense his defining presence at every turn. May you feel the breath of his consecration over your very life, and may God give you pause enough to see him when he splits the sky and lands on your scene in the next 24 hours.

It is my joy and privilege to have you in my life. It is our Father’s joy to have you as his child for always. Walk in that abundance and take hold of your Reward. His name is Jesus, and his love for you cannot be measured.

And for one of you…well let’s make that TWO of you…

I pray that Beth Moore’s book, David: 90 Days With A Heart Like His, will lead you closer to your Reward.

Our little warrior has picked our first winner before heading out to school this morning…

Tracy

And not to be left out, my little princess wanted her two cents in the matter…

  1. No Way!!! That is too cool. I’ve never won anything like this.

Thanks Elaine. And I just want to say, I didn’t comment to win a prize, although I hoped I would. Words cannot express how much your blog has meant to me over the past several months. You have inspired me to read God’s word and expect a new “nugget” of wisdom from my Lord.

  2. “Spend it now child. Pour it forth. Do not wait. Tomorrow is not promised to you.”

I pulled this off of your post on the LPM Blog this morning. I wanted to let you know, that I wrote it off on a sticky note and have it taped to my computer monitor. The only thing taped to it….GOOD WORDS!! God words.

Thanks to you for sharing with us.

    Lovingly,
    Yolanda

  3. Alene,
Thank you again for reaching a loving hand out to your sisters in Christ…

Congrates to the winners, I have thumbed throught this book at work, and I think it is great… You will be blessed by it…

  4. Beautiful post. The question you were asked reminded me of how we minister and witness to others. Let me explain. I agree, it doesn’t matter what gets folks to your site, but rather as long as they are hear, there is a chance they will be in tune to hear God’s word. It is just like having revivals or special mother-daughter banquets at church. Many times at the m-d banquets flowers are given and door prize, etc. But it is all worth the effort to get folks into the doors of the Lord’s house upon them hearing and RECEIVING God’s word. Just like stopping by our blogs…we present God’s love and hope that they will RECEIVE it.

    Well done, my child!

We indeed are blessed to be called HIS children.
    Loves,
    Paula

  5. Oh my word! How exciting! Can’t tell you the last time I’ve won something, particularly something like this. A Heart Like His was my very first Beth Moore Bible study, and also the first one I shared with the ladies here at my office. I’m very excited to see this is an expansion of that study. In my chronological study Bible right now, the last two weeks have also brought me to reading about David…think God is trying to tell me something? ; )

I am so grateful for the immense blessings and insights I’ve received from your blog, Elaine…your teaching alone would certainly be enough of a prize for me!

By the way, I was rushing when I left last comment, but wanted to say your line “Spend it now child. Pour it forth. Do not wait. Tomorrow is not promised to you” is at the top of my list of favorite quotes, ever. So very true and beautifully spoken…as always.

    Thank you again sweet friend!
    Tracy = )

  6. My prize… being able to share God’s amazing Word w/ ladies (and a gentleman) on the internet. I have never met any of you – but hold you all dear. Elaine… I look forward to the next study God prompts you to write!

  7. I’ve so much enjoyed spending the last couple weeks in study. Thank you for being obedient and sharing His word. It’s been a pleasure meeting you and I thank you for all your prayers.

  8. Elaine, even the Lord works on the reward system – Honour your mother and father and your life will be long; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths; seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and then all these things will be added unto you; seek and you will find etc…

Thanks again Elaine for the many times you have encouraged and blessed me! Praying for you.

    Love & prayers,
    Joy

  9. To God be the glory great things He hath done, He loved us so much that He sent us His Son…. and that is the song that ran through my head as I was reading your blog. Our best gift, best prize adn highest honor is to simply give back to our Savior…Glory. I know prizes work in my home, even for a good poop you might get a candy prize, or a job well done, service to one another. I get it, and you have done a terrific job helping me get it all the more. I am blessed, didn’t win a prize in my hand, but one in my heart is even greater.

  10. Cute pic’s!!!
I love this post. It’s fun to give things aways, but it’s really joyful getting emails from women drawing near to Jesus. That’s what this whole blogging thing has got to be about…getting closer to Jesus Christ.
    Blessings & Hugs,
    Lelia
